Hungarian NGOs contribute to the European Commission’s third Rule of Law Report

Nine Hungarian NGOs submitted a joint contribution in the stakeholder consultation launched by the European Commission for its third annual Rule of Law Report. The Commission’s previous Rule of Law Report (pertaining to 2020) identified substantial problems severely threatening the rule of law in Hungary in all four areas examined. According to the NGOs, the situation has deteriorated further in 2021. For the first time this year, the Commission’s country chapters will also include concrete recommendations to EU Member States which will hopefully build on the findings of this report too.

The 2022 joint report is available here.
The Hungarian translation of the 2022 joint report can be downloaded here.
