The project titled ‘Youth engagement for conscious citizenship’ aimed to raise awareness of youth in secondary and higher education about select topics of democracy and human rights.

The education materials prepared by the project partners (Átlátszó.hu, Eötvös Károly Institute, NIOK Foundation, Hungarian Civil Liberties Union, Hungarian Helsinki Committee, Transparency International Hungary) are available in Hungarian at the project website. The Hungarian Helsinki Committee created education materials in the following topics:

(1) The case law of the European Court of Human Rights related to the rights of detainees

(2) Basics of immigration and refugee law

The education materials were tested in pilot sessions and consultations with educators (2016, Miskolc University, University of Szeged, Corvinus University of Budapest).

The project was funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands.
