The Hungarian Helsinki Committee’s annual report is out!

The Hungarian Helsinki Committee’s annual report on its activities in 2024 is now available in both Hungarian and English. As a human rights NGO, we provided legal assistance to approximately 4,000 clients last year and successfully represented individuals in 15 cases before the European Court of Human Rights.

As a public-benefit civil society organisation, the Hungarian Helsinki Committee places great emphasis on ensuring transparency in both its activities and financial management. In addition to the financial report, we also publish our annual reports in a more accessible form each year, along with details about our sources of income.

Our organisation achieved significant results in 2024 as well. The report shows that:

  • we provided free legal assistance to nearly 4,000 people in vulnerable situations;
  • we effectively supported citizens who bravely stood up against an increasingly restrictive state power;
  • we defended victims of state violations before European courts in a record number of cases;
  • we played a leading role in protecting the independent Hungarian civil society sector;
  • our work helped make the cause of human rights increasingly important and worthy of support for many people in Hungary;
  • we played an important role in ensuring that the world learns about rights violations committed in Hungary – and that these do not go without consequences;
  • and we strengthened the professional preparedness and resilience of human rights defenders and civil experts in Hungary and across Europe.

The Hungarian version of our 2024 annual report is available here, and the English version is available here. All reports, revenue tables, and auditor’s reports going back to 2015 can be found here in Hungarian and here in English.
