Váltás magyarraThe COMPASS Project aims to maintain the spotlight of international attention on Hungary and the attempts to further dismantle the rule of law; re-frame the social discourse in Hungary about the rule of law and the rule of law backsliding; build a stronger HHC, ready to meet known and future challenges in Hungary and in an EU context; and contribute to building a wider alliance of civic actors in the EU, empowered to act jointly in solidarity for defending the rule of law and civic space and preventing a domino effect of democratic backsliding in Europe.
As part of the project activities, the HHC will carry our proactive international advocacy; will facilitate the capacity-building and empowerment of Hungarian and European CSOs for a more effective international advocacy and the enhanced security of human rights defenders; will carry out hope-based communication activities with a view to contributing to a narrative change regarding the rule of law, democracy and human rights; and will conduct strategic litigation and will provide legal assistance to victims who stood up for the rule of law and suffered reprisals because of it. To achieve the project objectives, the HHC will build on its existing and new cooperations with CSOs and other civic actors.
The project is supported by the Swedish Postcode Lottery Foundation.
