Important deadline change in the procedure of the Strasbourg Court

As of today, 1 February 2022, the time limit for bringing proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg will be reduced to 4 months instead of 6 months.

The new deadline will apply if the final decision in the domestic proceedings is taken on or after 1 February 2022. For final domestic decisions taken before 1 February 2022, the time limit for bringing proceedings remains 6 months.

The new deadline applies to all 47 Council of Europe member states.

The application form of the European Court of Human Rights has not changed.
