Statements & Written Submissions at the 2025 OSCE Warsaw Human Dimension Conference

The Hungarian Helsinki Committee participated at the 2025 OSCE Human Dimension Conference.

This 11-day conference was dedicated to discussions on the condition of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the OSCE area. The conference provided a platform to evaluate the implementation of the OSCE Human Dimension commitments, and offered a forum for participants to present their current work and raise issues that they believe merit the urgent attention of the international community.

Our speakers and written submissions addressed the situation of human rights defenders and civic space, on the rights of asylum-seekers and refugees, on the independence of the judiciary, and on elections.

Anikó Bakonyi, the director of the refugee programme, addressed the plenary on the rights of refugees, her remarks are available here.

András Léderer, head of advocacy, was invited to provide introductory remarks at the last plenary session, dedicated to the situation of human rights defenders. You can watch his speech on the OSCE’s channel here.

We also participated in two side events: organised by OSCE-ODIHR on the rule of law (Rule of Law Backsliding: Is There a Chance to Reverse?) and on refugee rights (Truth over fear: countering attacks on migrant and refugee rights).

The Hungarian Helsinki Committee submitted written statements pertaining to Hungary for the OSCE Warsaw Human Dimension Conference on:
