The aim of the project is to strengthen the fundamental rights at work, as set out in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union under the title Solidarity, and to create a framework for strategic approach to protect them. The activities are coordinated by the Hungarian Trade Union Confederation (MASZSZ), with the Hungarian Helsinki Committee as a partner. The project runs from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025.

During the project, we will analyse draft laws, new legislation and amendments related to trade unions’ and workers’ rights and develop fundamental rights arguments samples for different fora of consultation. We will analyse existing provisions and practices that violate fundamental rights of trade unions and workers. We will develop two reasoning samples that can be used in proceedings, and we will initiate two proceedings or develop a litigation plan for the problems identified. Three awareness-raising workshops will be held for members of trade unions. The MASZSZ will initiate communication campaigns to get the project’s messages across to its member trade union organisations, trade unionists and workers in general.

The project is supported by the Our Common Values Programme (https://kozosertekeink.hu/en/english), which is part of the European Union’s Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV).
