The two realities of refugee reception in Hungary
The Dutch Council for Refugees interviewed our colleague, Anikó Bakonyi about our response to the war in Ukraine.
Millions of Ukrainians have fled their country since the start of the war. Neighbouring country Hungary welcomes them with open arms. At the same time, refugees and asylum seekers from other countries are refused entry, often by force. Anikó Bakonyi of the Hungarian Helsinki Committee has been working for the protection of refugees and asylum seekers for years. She now coordinates the NGO’s response to the to the displacement from Ukraine to Hungary.
