#Ukraine Destitution and homelessness: the situation of vulnerable Ukrainian beneficiaries of temporary protection

PRinCE – Procedural Rights in Central Europe (2024-2026)

The aim of the project is to improve the implementation of the EU Directives on procedural rights in relation to people belonging to vulnerable groups at high risk of police mistreatment in Poland and Hungary. The project focuses on members of discriminated groups (foreigners, especially Ukrainians, representatives of the Roma community and LGBTQI persons), women (e.g. in relation to abortion cases) and persons in crisis (under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive substances and persons with mental health conditions).

The project implementation will include an analysis of the main problems and solutions that have been successfully implemented in various EU countries. Through international cooperation, manuals and training materials will be developed to disseminate good practices and effectively implement the procedural rights of people from vulnerable groups (and, if the political situation in Poland and Hungary allows, cooperation with law enforcement agencies and training of police officers will follow). Advocacy efforts will also be undertaken to raise awareness among the public, including persons from the vulnerable groups, of the rights guaranteed by the Directives.
