I joined the Hungarian Helsinki Committee’s Justice and Rule of Law Programme in 2019 February, where as a sociologist and criminologist I coordinate and take part in projects related to criminal procedural rights. My goal is to have a criminal justice system that operates on the basic foundation of the Rule of Law and uses humane and effective measures. I think of the current political climate that surrounds civil society organisations as a professional challenge that motivates us to find new methods to initiate positive change on obsolete institutional practices. Ultimately, I am here to work towards creating a Hungary where social problems are not handled by the criminal justice system.
