Foreigners in Hungary – A Guide for Journalists (2011)
Is it true that most immigrants are Chinese in Hungary? Is it correct to talk about “economic refugees”? Foreigners are more likely to commit criminal acts than Hungarians, aren’t they? What is the difference between expulsion and extradition? Is it true that in Hungary the number of immigrants has been radically increasing in recent years?
Journalists often face similar questions when reporting on migration or asylum-related issues.
The guide – published on World Refugee Day – provides a user-friendly response to a set of questions that usually arise in this context by presenting the main causes of migration, introducing the basic terminology of migration and asylum and clarifying on a factual basis the common misperception of some migratory phenomena.
The Guide is downloadable here in Hungarian.
