Legal officer, Justice and rule of law programme
I graduated from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in 2005 as a political scientist and then in 2011 as a lawyer. I pursued my legal studies primarily because of my interest in human rights. From September 2010, I was an intern and a volunteer at the Hungarian Helsinki Committee for approximately 2 years during which time I was involved in research projects and edited legal submissions. In the spring and summer of 2012, I was able to join the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg for a short time. From the autumn of 2012 to the spring of 2021, I worked as a civil servantdealing with equal opportunity issues, the enforcement of the principle of equal treatment and anti-discrimination.
I have been working for the Hungarian Helsinki Committee again since May 2021 participating as a legal officer in the organisation’s projects related to detention and due process. I would like to contribute to making criminal proceedings fairer and ensure that the rights and human dignity of those involved are respected from the beginning of the proceedings to imprisonment and beyond.
